2KB Energy is a Georgia-based, minority-owned small business (DBE & MBE) providing energy efficiency program management services, including sustainability planning, energy audits, and general project management.

Our Mission

We partner with in-house teams in the government, industrial, and commercial sectors to develop and responsibly implement practical strategies for eliminating waste while providing value to communities and customers.

Our Team

George Buchanan
George is a project executive and subject-matter expert in energy and environmental solutions with over 20 years of experience. He is a results-driven and systems thinker dedicated to helping clients holistically manage their supply and demand-side energy spend, finance capital projects, and accumulate cost savings. George holds an MBA from Georgia State University and a BS in Electrical Engineering from Florida A&M. Founder & CEO
Leon Murray
Leon specializes in energy efficiency and infrastructure optimization within the built environment. At 2KB, Leon oversees clients’ energy infrastructure upgrades ensuring O&M procedures are followed as well as measuring and verifying results to help clients realize the full potential of their capital investments. Leon holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from The Citadel Military College of South Carolina as well as a MS in Electrical Engineering and MBA from UCF. Energy Engineer
Ruthie Norton
Ruthie is a project executive responsible for managing project deliverables and timelines, communications with clients, and project strategies. Ruthie has been working in clean energy for over 10 years with over $130M in energy savings projects executed and over 10,000 vehicles ready for electrification. Ruthie is well trained in developing partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including non-profits, government, academia, and businesses with proven results in energy and fleet planning. Helen Petersen
Helen is a marketing and business development professional specializing in the sustainability and renewable energy sectors. At 2KB, she oversees outreach initiatives and is responsible for maintaining and strengthening the company’s public profile through social engagement. Conner Peterson
Conner specializes in energy efficiency technologies, resiliency planning, and the implementation of sustainable practices. As a PM, he prioritizes effective communication with both his clients and team members to develop holistic project plans, resolve issues, and ensure information is appropriately shared to deliver projects on time and on budget. Conner is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM®) and holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from Kennesaw State University. Energy Project Manager
Kyle Van Spyk
Kyle leads the construction administration team at 2KB which maintains onsite field coverage to support clients’ energy infrastructure projects. With over five years of experience in project management and two years of onsite field support, Kyle is an expert in strategic planning and ensuring clients’ large-scale construction projects remain on track and deliver verifiable results. Kyle is trained in OSHA-30 and holds a Construction Management Certificate from Kennesaw State University. Construction Manager
