2KB Energy Services is an independent energy and environmental consulting firm based in north Atlanta. To support our rapid growth, we are seeking a Technical Project Manager to strengthen our team in our Atlanta Office. This role combines strategic project leadership with hands-on technical expertise in energy audits and analyses, while serving as a key liaison for client relationships across complex, multi-disciplinary programs.
To be successful in this role, the candidate will need to be able to manage multiple concurrent projects, work on tight deadlines, and have exceptional organizational, verbal, written, and presentation skills. What You’ll Do
Project Management & Program Coordination
Lead and coordinate complex, multi-disciplinary energy efficiency programs involving engineering, data analytics, and partner teams
Develop comprehensive project workplans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation strategies for concurrent projects
Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement proactive solutions to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery
Facilitate cross-functional team collaboration and communication across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Track and report project metrics, milestones, and deliverables to internal leadership and external clients
Client Relationship Management
Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for assigned client accounts
Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships through consistent communication, responsiveness, and delivery excellence
Understand client objectives, priorities, and constraints to tailor solutions that meet their energy efficiency and sustainability goals
Lead client meetings, presentations, and progress reviews with professionalism and technical credibility
Identify opportunities for expanded services and strategic partnerships within existing client relationships
Technical Support & Energy Analysis
Review and refine technical reports, energy audit deliverables, and recommendation summaries for accuracy and clarity
What We Need
Required Qualifications
Engineering or engineering-related bachelor’s degree or higher.
5+ years managing projects and/or small technical teams in energy efficiency, building performance, or related consulting.
Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple concurrent projects, including schedule, budget, and client communication.
Proven experience supervising technical staff: assigning work, reviewing audit findings, and providing coaching/mentorship.
QA/QC ownership for audit deliverables, ensuring consistency with your firm’s standards and contract requirements.
Vendor/partner management experience: scoping and overseeing subcontractors, reviewing invoices, and holding partners to schedule, budget, and quality targets.
Strong written skills for proposals, scopes, and final audit reports; able to translate technical findings into plain-language recommendations.
Comfortable leading meetings and presenting results to facility staff, city leadership, and other non-technical stakeholders.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
Willingness to travel as needed to support development and project needs
Experience with project management software (we use BQE CORE)
Preferred Skills
Experience in commercial/municipal energy audits, including ASHRAE Level I–II work and ECM development.
One or more relevant credentials: Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Energy Auditor (CEA), ASHRAE BEAP, or equivalent energy/efficiency certification.
Familiarity with ASHRAE audit procedures, local codes, and common ECMs for municipal/school/commercial facilities.
Proficiency with utility data analysis and ECM financials (simple payback, SIR, NPV) in Excel or similar tools.
Experience in EnergySTAR Portfolio manager
